DASCO Companies Announces the Completion of The BirthPlace Expansion
Palm Beach Gardens, FL — August 24, 2007 - DASCO Companies, LLC, is pleased to announce the completion of an expansion project for The Birthplace at Southwest General, San Antonio, Texas. DASCO oversaw the addition of 8,000 square feet to the 34,100 square foot birthing center.
The BirthPlace provides care for mothers-to-be and their families during the prenatal period and through birth and recovery. DASCO acquired The BirthPlace in 2002 and proceeded to undertake a much needed renovation and expansion. The addition encompassed approximately 17,300 square feet and included 18 post-partum rooms, 3 LDRP rooms, two isolation rooms and support rooms, such as classrooms, pantry, nurses’ stations, office and equipment storage rooms. As a result of those renovations, The Birthing Center obtained Level II certification.
The most recent expansion increases capacity in The BirthPlace, bringing Labor, Delivery and Recovery suites to 17 rooms and post partum to 34 rooms. The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit will increase capacity to 35 beds.
Southwest General Hospital, a 289-bed acute care facility continues to be the only health care facility on the southwest quadrant of the city. The hospital is an IASIS Healthcare Facility.
